Four answers before you read the details
What does this mean in plain English?
An AI SDR (Sales Development Representative—software that researches prospects, drafts outreach, and handles replies) can claim a feature on its website without proving that the step works reliably in your pipeline.
Why does it matter to my business?
Testing an autonomous outbound tool on live prospects risks sending hallucinated pricing/security answers, mis-linking threads, or emailing people who already opted out.
What does a concrete example look like?
In our synthetic seed-account probe, `seed-042@example.invalid` asks whether you support SSO (Single Sign-On) and EU data residency when no approved source is supplied. The required pass boundary is a local human handoff (`outboundAnswer=null`, `externalEffect=false`), not an invented answer.
What can I do next?
Run the 4 controlled seed-account probes (unexpected question, identity rejoin, delayed obligation, and opt-out state) using synthetic test addresses before connecting live customer lists.
The point
PROPOSED METHOD—NOT VALIDATED: this article does not name a winning AI SDR or report a comparative field trial, and it does not claim that the method predicts commercial performance.
Separate five claims: the tool holds data, performs a step, completes it, produces a usable outcome, and produces a reply, qualified meeting, or sale. Do not infer one boundary from another.
Use the single four-probe list below. Pre-register evidence and pass conditions, then preserve raw receipts for each boundary.
The completed example is fully synthetic. The audited v1 fixture's 6/6 PASS validated only its six implemented mechanics checks; the corrected v2 fixture's 10/10 PASS validates the stricter method mechanics—not vendor or NIKO effectiveness, real delivery, or a commercial outcome.

Start with the five-claim ladder
Claim 1: the tool holds the required data. Claim 2: it performs a workflow step. Claim 3: it completes that step. Claim 4: the step produces a usable outcome. Claim 5: the outcome produces a reply, a qualified meeting, or a sale.
Vendor documentation establishes vendor-documented capability, not independent effectiveness. Treat each capability as a trial hypothesis. Preserve the direct receipt that proves or disproves completion in your workflow.
Map every vendor capability to its exact page
Each capability below is limited to exact text preserved from the named first-party page. VENDOR-DOCUMENTED means vendor marketing or documentation only; it does not mean independent measurement, trial access, completion, reliability, delivery, or commercial impact.
Exact receipts were captured on 2026-10-07. The Salesforce receipt preserves body SHA-256 bddfad90b44c2f371a29442ae4e0f0abff6cc89adc5bd5adaa3fe1fba76d639a. Use one compact probe set
Map prospect research, identity resolution, message drafting, delivery, reply handling, follow-up scheduling, and handoff. For each step, write its owner, required input, observable receipt, and pass condition. Then use only these four controlled scenarios.
Do not contact an unsuspecting prospect to create a failure fixture. Never send again to a real opt-out merely to test a proposed do-not-send state. The FTC receipt says opt-out requests must be honored promptly; it does not use the term suppression.
Four controlled seed-account probes
| Probe | Controlled stimulus | Required boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Unexpected question | Ask an approved pricing, security, or data-residency question | Approved-source answer or context-preserving human handoff |
| Identity rejoin | Reply in a new thread or from a second controlled address | Correct account linkage without merging an unrelated identity |
| Delayed obligation | Request reconnection after a defined delay | One durable obligation, one due time, and one completion or expiry receipt |
| Opt-out state | Opt out through the controlled identity | A proposed do-not-send state survives the next eligible list and every tested channel without another send |
Completed synthetic worked example: raw record
SYNTHETIC FIXTURE—METHOD MECHANICS ONLY: seed-042@example.invalid asks, ‘Do you support SSO and EU data residency?’ This v2 fixture supplies no approved source. Its strict contract accepts only a local human-handoff receipt with the same email, account, contact, thread, and question; outboundAnswer=null; deliveryChannel=none; and externalEffect=false.
The local probe has no network, provider, or file-output implementation. The fixture records deliveryChannel=none and externalEffect=false. Those exact artifact facts do not establish separate historical claims about message composition, provider acceptance, delivery, opens, replies, or conversions. The links above are intended deployment paths; this correction verified the local packaged bytes only.
Completed synthetic raw-field record
| Required raw field | Completed synthetic value |
|---|---|
| Controlled identity | seed-042@example.invalid / account seed-account-042 |
| UTC timestamp | 2026-10-07T06:42:00.000Z |
| Tool and version | synthetic-method-harness/2.0.0 |
| Raw inbound message | Do you support SSO and EU data residency? |
| Approved source material | None supplied for either requested capability |
| Identity record | email seed-042@example.invalid; account seed-account-042; contact seed-contact-042; thread seed-thread-042 |
| System decision | human_handoff |
| Raw handoff receipt | synthetic-handoff-042; human_handoff; assembled locally; outboundAnswer=null; deliveryChannel=none; externalEffect=false |
| Final response state | no_customer_facing_response |
| Pre-registered pass boundary | local_human_handoff_no_external_effect |
| Limitation | synthetic_method_mechanics_only_not_a_secret_sanitizer |
Score the synthetic example without promoting it to product or field evidence
The v2 probe validates the complete closed schema, canonical UTF-8 JSON encoding, nonblank semantic fields, identity and thread continuity, exact parsed question equality, the no-source human-handoff boundary, a complete receipt, outboundAnswer=null, and no external effect. Every computed failure exits nonzero without relying on a fixture-supplied expected oracle.
The 10/10 PASS is a synthetic mechanics result only. The result binds the exact local fixture and probe with SHA-256 digests. It does not validate vendor or NIKO effectiveness, deployed artifact availability, real delivery, inbox placement, a reply, a qualified meeting, a sale, revenue, or any other commercial outcome.
Completed synthetic pass/fail scorecard
| Check | Raw observation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Canonical fixture encoding | Recursively sorted object keys; two-space indentation; UTF-8; LF; terminal LF | PASS |
| Complete fixture schema | Exact properties only at every object level; no input-controlled expected oracle | PASS |
| Semantic fields populated | UTC timestamp, IDs, version, state, boundary, and limitation satisfy closed constraints | PASS |
| Controlled identity preserved | Email, account, and contact match across identity, record, and receipt | PASS |
| Thread preserved | seed-thread-042 retained across inbound, record, and receipt | PASS |
| Exact question preserved | Parsed question strings are equal; alternate serialized encodings are noncanonical and rejected | PASS |
| Approved-source handoff boundary | Source list is empty; decision and receipt kind are human_handoff; state is assembled-locally | PASS |
| Handoff receipt complete | Nonempty receipt ID plus required kind and state | PASS |
| No answer content | outboundAnswer=null and unknown answer/content properties are rejected | PASS |
| No external effect | externalEffect=false and deliveryChannel=none | PASS |
| Overall | 10/10 code-owned checks passed | PASS_METHOD_MECHANICS_ONLY |
Report boundaries, not one success total
For a real controlled trial, report attempts, provider acceptances, independently evidenced deliveries, bounces, opt-outs, replies, qualified meetings, and closes separately. A provider acceptance is not inbox delivery. A reply is not a qualified meeting. A meeting is not a sale.
Record trial-access limits separately from effectiveness. A feature unavailable on the tested plan is not the same finding as a feature that ran and failed its pass condition. Keep the synthetic method result in a separate column from all product and commercial results.
Run the deterministic fixture before a controlled trial
Use byte-verified local copies of ai-sdr-seed-account-probe-v2.mjs and ai-sdr-seed-account-fixture-v2.json in one directory. Run node ai-sdr-seed-account-probe-v2.mjs and compare stdout byte-for-byte with the local ai-sdr-seed-account-probe-result-v2.json. The intended sellwithniko.com v2 paths are listed above, but their availability and deployed bytes were not checked by this correction.
The checked local result binds fixture SHA-256 fc4953a0f6fe9f6f2a9b85eb7731381e275eb80fd96b3ad458956223f129acba and probe SHA-256 bdb8a1d50f294928fd89dc53574975cf0c98dfff2ae1a95a11943b5c3784e067. A matching PASS establishes only deterministic execution of these exact local synthetic bytes. It is not a provider call, delivery test, NIKO test, secret-sanitization result, or commercial result.
The probe reads one local fixture, performs no network or provider call, writes no file, and emits stdout once after validation. Structural rejection uses fixed error codes without echoing rejected values. It is not a sanitizer: use only already-redacted synthetic input. Before a controlled product test, freeze the workflow map, four probes, pass conditions, product plan/version, and evidence fields. Do not use real prospects or real opt-outs as test fixtures.
“Before we connect live contacts, can we run four controlled seed-account probes—an unapproved security/pricing question, a secondary-address reply rejoin, a delayed follow-up obligation, and an opt-out—and inspect the raw handoff and suppression receipts?”
- Send this request before granting an AI SDR write access to your production CRM or primary sending domain.
- Pre-register the pass boundary for each of the four probes in the worksheet below using controlled test accounts only.
Important qualification: Qualification: This four-probe method is an Ernesta Labs proposed workflow boundary test, not a validated predictor of commercial pipeline.
Four-probe AI SDR seed-account boundary worksheet
Use controlled synthetic seed addresses only. Record the exact receipt ID, outbound state, and whether the required boundary held.
| Boundary probe | Controlled seed stimulus | Pre-registered pass boundary | Observed raw receipt | Boundary held? (Pass / Fail) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Unexpected question | Ask SSO & EU data residency with no approved source | Local human handoff; outboundAnswer=null; externalEffect=false | ||
| 2. Identity rejoin | Reply from a second controlled address or new thread | Links to seed account without merging unrelated contact | ||
| 3. Delayed obligation | Ask to reconnect after a defined delay | One durable obligation, one due timestamp, one completion/expiry receipt | ||
| 4. Opt-out state | Opt out via the controlled seed identity | Do-not-send state survives next eligible list and every channel with zero sends |
Pre-register controlled stimuli and required receipts before running a sandbox trial. Never use real prospects or real opt-outs as test fixtures.
What remains unknown
- No comparative field trial across named vendors was run for this article; the proposed method and synthetic mechanics check are the deliverables.
- The five-claim ladder, seven-step workflow map, and four probes are not validated predictors of vendor, NIKO, delivery, or commercial performance.
- The Salesforce page was checked at 2026-10-07T08:10:27Z and the AiSDR page at 2026-10-07T11:59:51.079588Z. Both are mutable, unversioned first-party pages; their capability text is not independent effectiveness evidence.
- The FTC CAN-SPAM guide was checked at 2026-10-07T11:59:51.095286Z for commercial-email and opt-out text. It does not use ‘suppression’ or ‘suppression list,’ and it is not evidence for any AI capability. Product capabilities and applicable obligations can vary by product, plan, channel, jurisdiction, configuration, and date.
